Where are the Most Authentic italian Restaurants in Los Angeles?

We haven't found any Italian food restaurants yet in Los Angeles, with the exception of Farfalla Trattoria that aren't "watered down" Italian. We favor more Northern Italian cuisine. If you have Italian blood, I think you know what I mean by real authentic Italian food like what you would find in NYC or Boston. There has to a restaurant in LA yet to be discovered by us where we can get a great real Italian dinner, right?

  1. Frankies on Ventura Blvd. in the SFV. It's a simple place but more authentic food.
  2. Il Fornaio. Pasadena (downtown, rather hidden so call and ask for directions), Santa Monica (mall), Manhattan Beach (Rosecrans and Aviation), Costa Mesa / Irvine (Quartz and Von Karmon near the John Wayne Airport), maybe more locations. The first 2 weeks of the month they also feature a regional menu from a region/state in Italy, so there is always something new. Many of their ingredients are imported from Italy. Great desserts. Great wine list but a bit pricey.
  3. try marias italian kitchen in sherman oaks on ventura blvd
  4. We found Luigi's D Italia over twenty years ago. Authentic Italian food, large menu, absolutely the best New York style pizza. All their meats and breads are prepared on the premises, fresh! Family owned and operated and moderate prices, this is the place but they are in Anaheim. Worth your drive! Enjoy! http://www.luigisditaliaoc.com/
  5. Casa Bianca in Eagle Rock-cash only.
  6. Alejo's in Venice at Venice/Washington is one of those hole-in-the-wall finds you'll show off to all your friends. BYOB. Amazing bread, excellent straight-ahead Sicilian cuisine, get the fried calamari even though you don't have room for it.
  7. Pecorino Restaurant in Brentwood, trust me you wont regret it. Its mainly food from northern italy
